CSE to help Bristol collectively ‘switch and save’
31 January 2013
On Monday (28/1) D.E.E. launched its New Year 2013 funding appeal. We’re looking for £1.5k to continue extending our practical energy workshops to more people – and we’ve got until 25th February to get enough pledges!
Our workshops aim to achieve the following:
Yesterday, the Centre for Sustainable Energy (CSE) launched the newest edition to popular PlanLoCal resources packs, Energy efficiency and the Green Deal to coincide with the national launch of the Green Deal.
We’re writing to ask if you would be willing to support a planning application by REG Windpower for a wind farm near Ingst, just north of Bristol. The site is between the M4 and M48 motorways, and the proposal is for 2 turbines with a maximum height of 130m.
Sunshine and soup were on the menu today at a renewable energy event in St Werburghs.
Participants of a Bristol-based energy-saving initiative met today for lunch in the house of Jackson Moulding, project manager and resident of the pioneering Ashley Vale self-build community.
Let’s Go Solar is looking for Bristol homeowners interested in having a solar-powered water-heating system installed for up to half the usual cost.
This is a great opportunity to save money on water heating bills and reduce Co2 emissions.
Recently Demand Energy Equality, a Bristol based energy justice project, sold out every place on its March 16th DIY solar PV course two months early.
Due to continued interest we are offering further spaces on an additional course on Saturday 20th April.
*Learn to build DIY solar PV for <1/2 price of a commercial install while contributing financially to an organisation dedicated to addressing energy inequality.*
On 16th March Demand Energy Equality is running a DIY solar PV course. (Also here: http://localhost/ben/content/solar-pv-workshop-demand-energy-equality)
There is now only ONE place remaining on this course, so make it yours if you are interested!

Summary: The meeting heard from current examples of projects tackling fuel poverty (Easton, Future Fit and WISH) and received brief updates from Bristol City Council and the University of Bristol research project. Discussion focussed around how to make use of and engage with the forthcoming Green Deal and local Bristol City Council energy projects.
