On Saturday 28 January 2017 we held our ‘Building your Group: bringing new people and skills into your group’ session, delivered by Voscur. The session covered barriers and motivations relating to getting involved in a group, micro-volunteering, Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) and ensuring you find the right people for the right roles. We also discussed issues around citizen power, and the difference between being a ‘volunteer’ and an active ‘member’ of a group who might be involved in developing projects as well as helping to deliver them. Participants also had the chance to practice an ‘elevator pitch’ to ensure they could communicate clearly what their group does and how people can get involved.
