POWER TO THE PEOPLE

POWER TO THE PEOPLE

The next Bristol Energy Network meeting will focus on how community groups can engage with local and global energy issues. This meeting brings together three Bristol-based groups, The Converging World, Bristol Green Doors, and Bristol Energy Co-op with three examples of how to bridge this gap.

Act now for winter! MakeyourhomeEco courses in Oct/Nov

These brilliant 6 week beginner/intermediate courses will give participants a thorough grounding in how to change their homes – and change how they live in their homes – in ways that will save energy, money AND carbon.

From looking at our values, motives, priorities, budgets and lifestyles (and the courses starts by exploring this) each of us can start to discern a way forward to a lighter way of living, bringing in no-cost to high-cost solutions, in the right order, from the right sources, with the right kinds of support.

CSE & BEN present: Green Deal for Communities

Thursday 13 October (18.00 to 21.00)  |  Watershed, Bristol

Green Deal for Communities

With the imminent launch of the Green Deal there are still lots of questions about what it is, what it will mean for householders, how the scheme could best be implemented, and what opportunities it will bring community energy groups. This session could provide answers to some of those questions, and a chance to discuss the issues.

The Green Deal, what it means for you*

The launch of the Green Deal is not very far away and there are still lots of questions about what it is, how the scheme will be implemented, and how it will overcome the challenge of making the costly energy efficiency improvements that many ‘hard to treat’ properties require affordable.

This is a joint Bristol Energy Network and Centre for Sustainable Energy evening meeting that will focus on the opportunities the Green Deal could offer community energy groups and social enterprises.

Training – Legal structures for community groups

18.30 – 20.30. The Centre for Sustainable Energy is running a session to help you decide on the best legal structure for your group. Guest speaker from the Bristol Co-operative Development Agency  |  There may come a point in your project where you need to become a constituted group – for example to be able to procure services, obtain funding or be transparent about your aims and objectives.
