Job vacancy: Community Outreach Officer

Have you been involved in community projects in your own neighbourhood?

– Have you had experience of supporting residents to run activities and projects?

– Do you believe in the benefit of community led projects?

– Have you seen first-hand the difference that people can make when they come together to address a common issue, opportunity or concern?

If you can answer yes to any of the above, then we want to hear from you!

Bristol Energy Network is still recruiting for a Community Outreach Officer. The role will include approaching a range of community groups and working with them to identify energy issues affecting them and how they can be addressed. This will include referring groups to available support, facilitating partnerships between groups and assisting in completing funding applications to Bristol City Council’s new community energy fund. You do not need to be an energy expert as training in local and community energy will be provided.

Specifically this post is intended to reach communities under-represented in the community energy sector. We are looking for someone who can engage with different communities and who brings a real understanding of different sectors of the city. We would like to see Bristol’s community energy sector become more diverse and representative of the city’s population and welcome applications from all sectors of the community.

The post holder will act as a point of contact between the network, community groups and the city council, in developing new community energy projects. They will have the skills to engage widely across the city to support the development of a Bristol community energy model and achieve a long-term legacy from Bristol’s year as European Green Capital. This post is funded by Bristol City Council through a grant to support the development of a city-wide community energy programme.

This is a part-time (0.6fte) post working 22.5hrs per week at a salary of £28,800 pro rata.

This post has been advertised before but no-one was appointed, previous applicants do not need to reapply.
