Off-grid 12V systems training day

Demand Energy Equality is a Bristol based grass-roots energy justice project. To fund our ongoing worked aimed at empowering low-income households with respect to the energy they need, we run training courses in off-grid 12V systems building.

Off-grid 12V Systems training is designed for those who:

Own or intend to own solar panels for off-grid use.
Are unsure or want further training in how to connect panels together, connect panels to batteries, charge controllers, battery guards and appliances.
Want to understand more about how their panels work and how best to set them up for off-grid use.
Have attended the DIY Solar Panel Building course and want to refresh/learn more about building off-grid systems.

It is a one-day training course, in groups of up to ten people. It will usually run from 11-5, including one hour for lunch. You will learn:

The electrical basics: current, voltage, resistance, power, series and parallel circuits.
How to test, understand and use 12V batteries.
How to test, understand and connect together your solar panels.
How to connect your solar panels to batteries, including using charge controllers and battery guards.
How to include appliances into your 12V system.

You will take home adapters for off-grid laptop and phone charging. 12V batteries at affordable prices will be available to purchase.

We can personalise training sessions by request, e.g. for particular uses such as phone charging. Please get in touch before hand.

Cost for one participant is £70 for a scheduled session. The next session will take place on Sunday 19th May.
Alternatively you can organise a one-on-one session for £150. Please get in touch to arrange this.
