Bristol Energy Network have organised an energy skillshare for Energy Champions and all others interested in learning new energy skills and knowledge.
We’d love you to attend the whole day (11-4) if you can, but we know weekends are precious so you’re welcome to come to one, two or all sessions. Please do let us know if you’re not attending all the sessions so we know how many people to cater for and if you have any dietary needs (email coordinator@localhost/ben).
This is also a great opportunity to talk about ideas for the new Bristol Community Energy Fund large and small grant programmes.
Cold Homes Energy Efficiency Survey Experts (CHEESE)
Heating accounts for the bulk of our use of energy at home. Heat is lost through the roof, windows, walls and floors of our homes; reducing heat loss means reducing our energy use and our bills! The Cold Homes Energy Efficiency Survey Experts (CHEESE) project aims to help people understand where they’re loosing heat in their homes by using thermal imaging cameras which produce images like those above, clearly showing in red where heat is being lost. In this session you can find out how to get involved with this project.
Draught-proofing workshop
Draughts from around doors, windows, letter boxes, chimneys and other areas of the house account for a massive amount of heat loss in the home. Find out about simple and cheap measures you can take to draught-proof your home. Combined with behaviour change, low costs measures such as draught-proofing could reduce your energy bill by as much as 40%.
Understanding Global Energy talk and discussion
Understanding global energy – who’s got it, who’s consuming it – is essential if we are to understand the challenges of decarbonisation. Nikki Jones, researcher and writer on energy trends and markets, will explain why the fossil fuel industries are currently in crisis and how we all have an opportunity to help turn this temporary slump into a permanent change.
