Bristol Green Doors recently held a Celebration Event for householders and stakeholders to recognise its achievements since 2010. At the event they also gave notice that they are unable to continue running as they have been and that green open home events in Bristol will need to be delivered differently in future.
From Bristol Green Doors:
Bristol Green Doors is going into “hibernation” as with no secure income or funding streams and lack of retrofit activity nationally and locally, our aims of celebrating and normalising domestic retrofit in a sustainable manner cannot not be either realised or be meaningful.
These, as we all know are indeed very challenging times and we hope that in the future a landscape exits in which efforts such as ours can be sustained more successfully. However our operations and business model rely on public interest in and local delivery of retrofit throughout the year and momentum in both is so slow that change is essential.
We will shortly be publishing a report outlining the lessons learned which we hope will be read by policy makers and those within the energy efficiency sector.
Following this and some breathing space, we will be making more concrete decisions in the new year with our financial year end in July in mind. Going forward we invite considered responses from partners or organisations looking to continue aspects of the work which we have started.
