Bristol city council appoints Commercial Energy Director

 

Bristol City Council has appointed Bill Edrich to be its first Commercial Energy Director.  Bill will be responsible for ensuring the development of a £100m plus programme of commercially viable renewable energy and retrofit projects (the Elena programme).

Bill is currently the Chief Executive of Yorkshire Energy Services – a national community interest company working within the UK energy efficiency industry. As award winning energy saving consultants, Yorkshire Energy Services specialise in delivering carbon reduction programmes on behalf of local authorities, housing associations, community groups, businesses and energy companies. 

Bill has over 19 years of experience in the energy field and has represented the Local Government Association on energy matters at the EFRA select committee, the CBI Emission Trading Group and Innovation grants panel.

Bill will take up post in Bristol soon after Easter.
