Smart Homes – Getting ready for winter
We are very pleased to announce that we have been funded by Smart Energy GB to promote smart meters to our network of community groups across the city to help reach those who perhaps would not have considered having a Smart Meter. The funding is primarily aimed at reaching older people who typically do not have access to the internet. We’ll be attending a series of events to promote smart meters, alongside getting ready for winter events highlighting the services available to people via the free Priority Register Service offered by Western Power Distribution and their energy provider.
We will be working with groups such as Bedminster Energy Group, Easton Energy Group and Ambition Lawrence Weston’s Energy Project ALS Energy Group.
Our energy system is changing and one of the biggest changes that will affect every household is Smart Meters. By the end of 2020, around 53 million smart meters will be fitted in over 30 million households and businesses. Similar projects have also been funded with CSE and Zion Bristol who we will be working closely with to get the message out there. The Replicate Project have developed a great resource explaining Smart Meters here and will be rolling out an exciting new project to explore the technology further watch this space for more details.
Smart Meter Energy Champion Training
There will also be an opportunity for other community groups to get involved and receive training and funding to hold an event in their community between now and December. Champions will receive training and support to run their own events.
