Easton Energy Group
A Community Benefit Society aiming to help individuals reduce energy use in the
home, organised by a group of residents who work in the sustainability field
Easton Energy Group has been operating for nearly five years now. It was set up by a group of enthusiastic professionals all keen on saving energy and spreading this message in the community.
We strongly believe in a fun and proactive approach to community engagement to get our message across. We have pedal powered sound systems, scalextric cars, smoothie makers. All are made by our good friends Martin and Carmen at Cycletricity. We also believe in a bottom-up approaches to energy saving and encourage householders to install simple measures like draught proofing, secondary glazing and progress to large measures such as solar and external wall insulation when ready.
We believe in partnerships and over the last year we have built a good relationship with Acorn, Litterarti, Food Cycle, etc. We are presently working on the Warm up Bristol project with Bristol City Council which has elevated us to the grand heights of an office and show home. We are about to launch HEAT – a home energy action team which will include a tool library, workshops and a complete draught proofing service. Along with other successful projects under our belt the group has certainly grown from those days in the back of the community centre, and now employ five people.
